This morning requires an early start and we thus recommend leaving at 07:30 from your accommodation.

Part of the reason for this morning’s early departure from Windhoek, Namibia is to make provision for border control as you’ll cross into Botswana today. Once you clear border control and make our way into the beautiful country of Botswana, you can stop for a delicious lunch.

Upon arrival: You are welcome to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the heart of the Kalahari. The San women and men will teach us about many edible plants, where to look for them and how they are used, e.g. contraceptives and healing.

Enjoy a lovely dinner and the tranquility of an evening in a remote Kalahari wilderness.

You’ll start the day with a morning bush walk where you will learn more about the San hunting techniques such as tracking and stalking. This excursion will be on foot through the veld with a small clan of San local guides and families as they show you how they gather food, start fire with sticks, check wind direction and get water from underground roots. Thereafter, a short drive takes you to the small town of Ghanzi to stock up on some food supplies. You can stop along the way to prepare and enjoy a delicious lunch, before continuing your drive to the town of Maun.

Your journey north-east toward Maun, will take you through the linear dunes of the Kalahari and passing a few villages along the way.

Upon arrival: Set up your camp this afternoon and acquaint yourselves with your beautiful riverside accommodation. We’ve booked a scenic 1-hour flight over the Okavango Delta for you late this afternoon.

You are in the territory of the River People, so this morning you’ll leave your vehicle behind and travel in a more appropriate fashion, first by motorboat and then by the traditional Mokoro (dugout canoe), deeper into the Okavango Delta. This will be a full day Mokoro tour on the Okavango Delta, one of the seven (7) natural wonders of Africa and a world heritage site.

Mokoro’s will be our main form of transport. These amazing traditional canoes are perfectly designed for the narrow waterways of the Okavango Delta and will allow you to travel further into the Delta and thus providing you with a better opportunity to see more of the rich wildlife in this area. Mokoros carry three people, two seated passengers and one driver. The driver stands in the rear of the canoe, (a real feat of balance), and uses a long wooden pole to propel and steer the Mokoro through the twisting channels. You will not be back at the camp until late in the afternoon.

In the afternoon: In the summer, the swimming pool at your accommodation provides a scenic and fun filled experience, as you enjoy your last sunset here before making your way to Planet Baobab the following day.

You’re travel in the easterly direction today, and your destination is Planet Baobab in the Magkadikgadi Pans Game Reserve near the small town of Gweta.

Planet Baobab is the Baobab capital of the world, where the average age of each tree is around 2500 years and beyond and the boundless lunar landscape of the Makgadikgadi salt pans is the size of Switzerland. The Baobab tree is a strange looking tree which grows in low-lying areas in both Africa and Australia. It can grow to enormous sizes and carbon dating indicates that they may live to be 3,000 years old. One ancient hollow Baobab tree in Zimbabwe is so large that up to 40 people can shelter inside its trunk.

Upon arrival: You are booked for a Baobab Bush walk this afternoon.

Today, you make your way to the gateway of the Chobe National Park; Kasane is an important point of debarkation for the nearby Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Livingstone in Zambia, and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. Quite impressive!

Spread out along the banks of the Chobe River, Kasane presents an array of hotels, guest houses and campsites that accommodate all the visitors to the national park. Some are superbly situated, with the wonderful views of the river and its wildlife.

In the afternoon: You have been booked for a sunset boat cruise this afternoon to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Chobe river, famous for its vast Elephant and Hippo populations.

After breakfast, we’ve taken the liberty to book you on a game drive to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Chobe National Park, famous for its vast Elephant and Hippo populations. Chobe National Park has the world’s largest population of African Elephants and the chances of seeing other big game are very good as you transit through the park.

Crocodiles and hippos abound in the forbidding Chobe River and on the land side there is often a display of different antelope and species such as elephant, buffalo and even the Big Cats come to the riverbanks for their sundowner drink. The Chobe River provides a very broad habitat for bird life and it is possible to see many beautiful species of our feathered friends.

In the afternoon: You will have some time in the afternoon to explore the town of Kasane, and perhaps visit some currency exchange bureaus as you will require US$ for your trip to Victoria Falls the next day.

You will cross the border into Zimbabwe around noon, as you can set off from Kasane in the late morning hours. Today’s drive is a relatively short one. You will be accommodated close to the banks of the Zambezi River and you will have some time to explore the safe and cozy town of Victoria Falls and perhaps visit the mighty Victoria Falls. The view of the waterfall from the Zimbabwean bank is captivatingly beautiful.

In the afternoon: You can book the many optional activities available in Victoria Falls. These include white water rafting, bungee jumping, Elephant-back rides, Lion walks, other excursions on the river and scenic flights to mention but a few. A relaxed, cozy afternoon around the pool at your lodge is just what the doctor ordered, coupled with a lovely optional massage on offer at your lodge as well.

Today will be action-packed with activities of all sorts. The adrenaline junkies can indulge in activities like the bungee jumping, gouge swings, crocodile cage diving and white-water rafting, while the others can enjoy the finer and more relaxing activities like scenic flights over the falls, game drives, lion walks, elephant back safaris and much more.

A short walk for some High Tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel is a great idea, with this grand 111-year-old Five Star hotel which boasts impressive views of the Victoria Falls Bridge and the magnificent Victoria Falls themselves. If it is Colonial grandeur you are looking for, then the Victoria Falls Hotel really is the perfect place. It is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the breath-taking scenery.

Your return to Namibia will require an early start (07:30) as you’ll will have a long drive today. You are in transit only and will have little time to stop for pictures or to take in the sights along the Zambezi region of Namibia.

You will be traversing the Caprivi Strip and will spend the night near the small village of Divundu in northern Namibia. Your base for this evening will be the remarkable Ngepi Camp, which offers something completely different and unique from what the campers are accustomed to. Here you will have a chance to spot hippos in the famous Okavango River from your tree houses and matchless bush huts. Your dinner will be at the delightful Ngepi dining area overlooking the Okavango river.

Recommendation: The Mokoro excursions here on the Okavango river are amazing.

You can depart for your next destination in the later hours of the morning, as our guests will enjoy a birding activity first before embarking on a relaxed drive through the villages and rural parts of northeastern Namibia.
This area offers a diverse cultural dynamic. A short stop for some lunch and a chance to just admire the vastness that is Namibia ‘the land of wide-open spaces’ is definitely recommended. You will transit through the town of Rundu and arrive at Roy’s Camp in the late afternoon. This is a cozy lodge where you’ll enjoy your last night of this wonderful safari.

You can depart for Windhoek between 08:00 and 08:30 this morning, as to make provision for your visit to the Hoba Meteorite on route.
Your first stop is the Hoba meteorite, which at sixty (60) tons is known to be that largest single meteorite on the planet. You would then proceed with a short lunch stop, as you’ll transit south through a few small settlements, via the towns of Kombat, Otavi and Otjiwarongo.
