Itinerary Details

Day 1: Windhoek to Erindi Private Game Reserve/Okonjati Game Reserve - 177km (110miles) - ±2H30min

Your journey this morning takes you north slightly north of Windhoek to the Erindi Private Game Reserve (alternatively Okonjati Game Reserve based on availability. The drive is approximately a 3h00min from Windhoek.

You should plan to arrive here around noon if you’d like to enjoy some lunch upon arrival, after which you can relax waterhole-side at the lodge. The late afternoon game drive is optional today, and so you can join it and experience incredible views of this area, be familiarized with its fauna and flora, as well as have an opportunity to see the wide selection of wildlife which call this vast reserve their home.

A lovely buffet dinner is on the cards for tonight.

You’d need to wake up quite early morning for a light breakfast before going on the early morning game drive. The reserve houses a large population of wildlife, including hippopotamus, Black Wildebeests and many more which are not found in the famous Etosha National Park, and the a variety of endangered wildlife which are not a common sighting in some of the big wildlife parks too.

You’ll be back at your accommodation with plenty of time to unwind before lunch, before your late afternoon game drive. This will give you another opportunity to catch a glimpse of what you might have missed on the previous game drive(s).

You may also see some lion prides, elephants, antelopes and other carnivores. Careful management of the this vast reserve has ensured the recovery of the ecological balance between vegetation, herbivores, and predators, so that the numbers and diversity of the species here lead to sustainable land utilization and socio-economic benefits for all in the area.

This evening is yet another fabulous dinner at the lodge!

Today, your journey continues with a lovely drive to the cosy town of Swakopmund on the mighty Atlantic Ocean. On this drive, you will enjoy stunning views of the famous Erongo mountain ranges. The region surrounding Swakopmund is extremely diverse. One can find the characteristic sand desert and gravel plains, as well as savanna and mountainous landscapes.

You’ll arrive in time for a little walk around the town to acquaint yourselves with, and book a few activities that you might want to enjoy, i.e. quad-biking (ATV’s), skydiving, sandboarding, paragliding, scenic flights and much more, after which you can enjoy a fine seafood dinner overlooking the ocean.

This coastal town is known for its variety of activities that it offers to travellers, and we have taken the liberty in arranging a dolphin cruise for you this morning on the catamaran in the town of Walvis Bay.

You’ll be collected in Swakopmund, making your way to Walvis Bay for a lovely experience on the still waters, which will afford our guests a chance to learn about the marine life on the Namibian Atlantic coast and a possibility of seeing the various species of dolphins that we have in Namibia, whales, Cape fur seals, flamingos and much more.

The afternoon is a relaxed one, where our guests can do some curio shopping or just wonder the lively markets of this unique city.

You’ll drive further south through the Namib Desert this morning, into the Namib Naukluft Park, one of the most scenic areas in Namibia.

Characterized by its imposing sand dunes and high, isolated rocky outcrops, the Namib Naukluft Park is known for its breathtaking horizons drenched in rusted orange hues. The Namib Desert Park included a small area north of the Swakop River where the Welwitschia grow, as well as the Moon Landscape east of Swakopmund.

On route to the Sesriem area, which is the gateway to the mighty dunes of Sossusvlei, you will pass Kuiseb and Gaub mountain passes as well as the Tropic of Capricorn.

Solitaire is a great stopover for a lunch and houses one of the most famous bakeries in the country, which is situated in the heart of the Namib Desert. You will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, and will have a chance to recover from the long drive before enjoying a lovely dinner in the Namib Desert.

This morning you can head into the Sossusvlei National Park, and you must depart quite early to take advantage of the relatively low morning temperatures to enjoy the dunes and the early morning light.

The main attraction is the Sossusvlei, but before you get there, you may opt for a brief stop at dune 45 where you will have a chance to climb this unique dune. You will walk amongst the great dunes and photograph this captivating landscape. You may also decide to climb one of the World’s highest climbable dunes, the ‘Big Daddy’ at the backdrop of Deadvlei.

Upon your return from the dunes, you should visit the Sesriem canyon, another amazing geological feature in the area before your relaxed afternoon at the lodge.

Today you have reached the end of your journey and head back to the capital city Windhoek via a few small settlements in the southern part, and the town of Rehoboth.

You can stop in Klein-Aub for a unique coffee tasting experience, before transiting to Windhoek, as you hope for an afternoon arrival.
